Mentoring Seminars

Mentoring Events at Your Location

Requests for detailed and more intimate coaching around key topics of transformation have been increasing every month! Easum, Bandy & Associates are taking reservations now to create topical training events in your area. This saves participants the cost of airfare and accommodation, but more importantly allows the coaching to occur in your own contexts among your own people.

Bill and Tom charge a flat cost per person, and pay their own travel, accommodation, and expenses. A host pastor makes a meeting place available. Participants may commute from their own residence.

Here are the details if you are interested in hosting or being a participant in one of the events. Remember: EBA Community Members receive a discount.

The Inner Work of Leadership with Tom Bandy
Minimum 12, Limited to 15 persons (clergy or lay)
Three days

This seminar encourages church leaders to focus their mission, release their passion, critique their action, and discern next steps for themselves and the teams with whom they work.

The three-day seminar will use a variety of exercises, conversations, video interviews, and meditation strategies...within a matrix of coaching by Tom Bandy. Large group mutual mentoring, triad interaction, one-on-one coaching with Tom, and individual reflection are all part of the experience. Together we can help each leader:

  • Recapture the joy and clarity of your original calling;
  • Discern the micro-cultures for whom your heart bursts;
  • Overcome the addictive behavior patterns that sabotage your best intentions;
  • Build positive habits for healthy, fruitful ministries;
  • Design true teams of spiritual entrepreneurs;
  • Tap resources of strength to face inevitable stress;
  • Anticipate leverage points to guide your church into the future.

This seminar will include many practical tips and tactics, but the focus of this seminar is on the inner work of leaders prior to, concurrent with, and following up your best strategic plans. Preparation reading Road Runner and Fragile Hope by Tom Bandy (Abingdon Press).

Resources are specially customized by Tom Bandy. Participants forward one month in advance a personal inventory and key issues they hope to address.

Cost: $500 per person; food, travel, accommodation extra per person; host pastor free.
Confirmation sent on receipt of tuition.

Put On Your Own Oxygen Mask First: The Heart of the Leader with Bill Easum
Minimum 15 persons (clergy or lay)
Three days

This seminar explores the kind of inner character and motivation that directs the hopes, dreams, and actions of leaders who make the church a thriving and healthy journey of faith. Although it contains ample nut-and-bolts content, the thrust of the experience is the inner development of the leader, so that no matter what the state of affairs in which a leader might find a church, the way forward is clearly evident to that leader. The seminar uses a variety of experiences such as the input of content from Bill Easum, the small group conversations sprinkled throughout the day, video interviews with some of the nations leading pastors, late night conversations over dinner or whatever, and of course, the off-the-wall passion of your mentor. Preparation reading: Unfreezing Moves by Bill Easum (Abingdon Press).

Resources are specially customized by Bill Easum. Participants forward one month in advance a personal inventory and key issues they hope to address.

Cost:
$500 per person; food, travel, accommodation extra per person; host pastor free.
Confirmation sent on receipt of tuition.

Leader Training Events with Tom Bandy
Minimum 5 to 6 congregational teams or about 15 to 40 leaders
Two days

Tom Bandy will lead training seminars for pastors or lay leaders in three topics for which he has gained international recognition:

  • Vision Discernment
    This seminar trains leaders in the Identity (DNA) Discernment process described in Moving Off the Map that builds clarity and consensus for core values, bedrock beliefs, motivating vision, and key mission; and lays a foundation of trust for church growth and ministry innovation.
  • Servant Empowering Organization
    This seminar trains leaders to build the streamlined, team-based, organizational model described in Christian Chaos, and helps you redesign your board, delegate management, multiply mission teams, re-write job descriptions, and redeploy staff.
  • The Core Discipling Process
    This seminar trains leaders in building the discipling process to change, gift, call, equip, and send Christian servants described in the Kicking Habits trilogy. It helps you implement the five stages of transformation and grow the cell group experience of discovery, destiny, & mission.

Participants are invited and registered by the host pastor (or judicatory leader) in whose church the event will take place. Participants may be of the same or diverse denominational affiliations. Each team submits to the EBA office a brief summary of their church and community context, mission statement, and current organizational model. These brief summaries need to be in the EBA office one month in advance, to help Tom Bandy customize the event for your situation.

Cost:
$895 per church enables you to bring 5 to 7 members of your leadership team;
$395 for the host congregation providing meeting space and refreshments during the breaks;
Food, travel, accommodation extra per person; 1 year internet listserve coaching free. A $250 non-refundable deposit from each church required, with the balance paid within two weeks prior to the seminar.
Confirmation sent on receipt of tuition.

The Inner Work of Lay Leadership with Tom Bandy
Minimum 12, Limited to 15 persons (lay leaders or lay leadership teams)
Two days

This seminar encourages church leaders to focus their mission; align themselves and their organizations with the core values, beliefs, vision, and mission of the congregation; support the pastor in freeing mission from control; and discern next steps for themselves and the teams with whom they work.

The two-day seminar will use a variety of exercises, conversations, video interviews, and meditation strategies...within a matrix of coaching by Tom Bandy. Large group mutual mentoring, triad interaction, one-on-one coaching with Tom, and individual reflection are all part of the experience. Together we can help each leader:

  • Focus your call and refine your spiritual gifts;
  • Understand the core discipling process and model disciplined spiritual growth;
  • Overcome the addictive behavior patterns that sabotage the best strategic plans;
  • Build positive habits for healthy, fruitful ministries;
  • Mentor team leaders for personal growth and effective ministry;
  • Tap resources of strength to face inevitable stress;
  • Partner with the pastor to guide your church into the future.

This seminar will include many practical tips and tactics, but the focus of this seminar is on the inner work of leaders prior to, concurrent with, and following up your best strategic plans. Preparation reading Road Runner and Mission Mover by Tom Bandy (Abingdon Press).

Resources are specially customized by Tom Bandy. Participants forward one month in advance a personal inventory and key issues they hope to address.

Tom will travel to your site and pay his own expenses. Tom will bring his own projector and equipment.
