How EBA Helps Denominational Leaders Customize A Regional consultation Strategy

EBA is experienced in designing long-term consultation and training in partnership with middle judicatories in a variety of denominations. This has proven to be an effective method of transforming churches and multiplying mission because it provided continuous coaching, mutual mentoring, and interfaces both outside perspective and denominational support. Below are just three possible strategies for long-term partnerships with middle judicatories of any denomination.

Example A: An 18 month cycle of coaching for selected congregational teams.

In this model, the regional denominational officer would handpick 5-6 congregations that seem ready for a significant change in mission direction. These congregations in turn would handpick a team of 6-7 congregational leaders. These 30-50 leaders would covenant for an 18 month cycle of training with consultants and judicatory leaders, including five retreats (topic in order of presentation to include "The Emerging Mission Field", "Thriving Church Systems", "Conflict Resolution", "Adult Faith Formation and Leadership Development", and "Next Steps on the Journey". The entire 18 month cycle would be linked by a continuous coaching, exclusive access listserve established through EBA and monitored by Tom Bandy or Bill Easum.

Example B: Training and coaching selected regional church vitalization consultants for a year of hands-on experience.

In this model, the middle judicatory would select 30 - 50 key leaders (lay or clergy) committed to three training retreats in the systems theory of "Kicking Habits" and the consultation tools of vision discernment, ministry audit, or congregational mission assessment. These leaders would be deployed to conduct their own consultations, but link together through an exclusive access listserve through EBA monitored by Bill or Tom for mutual support and dialogue. A follow-up retreat would bring the trainees together again after a year of experience.

Example C: Interpreting and coaching all the congregations of the judicatory using the "Three Track" model.

In this model, EBA would deploy all of its associates to help the judicatory sort congregations using the "Three Track" model, individually complete a ministry audit or congregational mission assessment with each congregation, and then cluster churches of similar context for mutual mentoring. Each "track" of churches would be linked by an exclusive access listserve monitored by a member of the EBA team for continuous coaching lasting one year.
