What's Working in Video Venues
Video Venue, What is Working
Here is a list Warren Bird compiled after visiting about a dozen different 'video churches,' including the most heralded in the country, of what seems to work best."
1. CAMPUS PASTOR: A host provided a warm, caring, personable "face with the place."
2. ENGAGING WORSHIP: Powerful, upbeat music fully engaged the congregation. As in most places, the music was live.
3. SUPPORT TEAMS: A full-service team provided support of the same quality (or better) as the support teams in the main sanctuary.
4. VIDEO SEGUES: The segue was smooth into and out from the video sermon.
5. VIDEO ITSELF: The video had good sight lines, brightness, close-up quality, and sound quality.
6. FIRST-CLASS: Nothing of second-class or hand-me-down quality marked the event, and there was not even a hint of "sorry you had to come to the overflow room."
7. ADDED VALUE: Not only was it a same-quality experience, but a distinctive "added value" feature was experienced by the video venue only, aimed at making it seem better than the sanctuary.
8. INDIGENOUS CONCLUSION: The conclusion of the service (including the response time after the message) was "indigenous" to our specific venue.
9. INTERACTIVE: Overall the venue offered as many (or more) ways for the congregation to experience, participate, and interact as did the main service.
10. CONNECTION: There was a resultant strong sense of connection between people in the venue with others who are part of the "bigger" church.
