Prayer Meeting, New Hope Christian Fellowship
Here's what our prayer meetings are like. After all the prayer requests are gathered during service they immediately go into a room where the prayer team intercedes on their behalf during the service. One of the team members takes all the requests and enters them into a computer on Monday. He prints out a consolidated list and distributes them at the weekly prayer ohana group meeting which occurs on Tuesday night. (we call our small groups "Ohana Groups" - Ohana is Hawaiian for extended family). Almost never is that list used as a handrail for that meeting. Generally, the group shares a meal during a gathering time and discusses things they feel the Holy Spirit is burdening them with. Somehow, a format is discerned during this meal and members share leadership of the prayer portion of the meeting. The Ohana Group leader very rarely does any guiding of the discussion and no 2 meetings are ever the same. Sometimes members will stand in proxy for a specific person and the group lays hands on and prays over them, sometimes they use a map, sometimes people use a prayer language, the format is VERY loose. A recent development... The group was the largest Ohana Group we had and recently birthed a new group that is focused on informed intercession and spiritual warfare in the community. I have not attended that meeting and don't know how it works. The prayer lists that are distributed are used by the members throughout the rest of the week. Some pray over them daily and occasionally act as the Holy Spirit leads in ministry towards those concerned. An additional action that team takes is to pray over each central event before and during their occurrence. Hope it helps..
