Online Coaching Seminars

Two great coaching seminars this month. I have read Bill T-B's book on the same title and it's great. Many of you know Larry Osborne, pastor of Northcoast Church, the pioneer in the multi-site movement.

The Webinars

Bill T-B has several Webinars scheduled.  The first one was highly successful. You can see them here.

Uncommon Lectionary

This month (April) is a time of seasonal and lifestyle transition that is much like September. In the northern hemisphere, lifestyle is shifting from winter to spring, concentrated learning to earning wages, workaholic behavior to obsessive leisure. Universities in Canada will finish the year and send students to summer jobs; corporations in America will anticipate rotational vacations; and..... for more click here

Imagine... It is almost 11:00 on Friday night when the phone rings. Your neighbor is calling in a panic. He is not particularly religious, but he knows that you go to church regularly. In a rush of words he tells you that his daughter is being held in conversation by his wife on their cell phone. The daughter is away to college, very depressed, and threatening suicide. Sure, they know that there is counseling available in the morning. They even know there is a hotline for emergencies. But before any of that can be useful, they have to keep her alive for a few hours. This is the problem. Your neighbor doesn't know what to say. He figures you do. You're religious. Surely you have a message that can keep someone from killing themselves in the next twenty minutes?

So what do you say?        -more-

An Important Announcement...

Effective in June, EBA will become the publishing and distribution agent of Net Results Magazine. Net Results is being entirely restructured with a streamlined, independent board. Tom Bandy will be the Executive Director, and Bill Tenny-Brittian will be the Senior Editor. We hope to advance the magazine in both print and electronic versions, focusing. Our goal and commitment is to relaunch Net Results as the premier How-To Magazine on evangelism and church growth for all Church Leaders. We will be adding special features for the Uncommon Lectionary, a congregational small group study guide (developed specifically for lay groups), new resources, and other improvements.

In addition, Byte-Size Net Results will become a monthly newsletter with additional articles related to the previous month's theme. This is a FREE resource that you can sign up for with no risk. Sign up today (and while you're at it, you might as well subscribe to Net Results... You know you're going to want it too!).

Hitchhiker's Guide to Evangelism
Online Coaching Seminar
April 9-12

Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent hitchhiked across the galaxy. But most of us on earth are just trying to safely hitch a ride through this journey called life. For faithful disciples of Jesus traveling along the Way, helping Wanderers (aka the "lost"), Nomads (aka uncommitted "Christians"), and Tourists (aka churched "consumers") find the Way implies engaging the "E" word. For some, Evangelism conjures images of distributing tracts, doing door-to-door "surveys," or being an obnoxiously aggressive in-your-face "Do you know Jesus?" kind of evangelist.

Not so. The Hitchhiker's Guide to Evangelism Coaching Seminar will take a look at spiritual habits of evangelism that are safe enough to take to work…even if you're a teacher at PS 084 in Brooklyn (or a pastor on Main Street USA). It's beyond "lifestyle" evangelism. Hitchhiker's evangelism is intentional, purposeful, and safe enough to share with friends who will still be your friend even after you've shared your faith.

Kicking Habits:
Turnaround Church Training
Level 1 and Level 2

Register Now!

These two levels train leaders in the use of the four foundational resources for systemic change. This is foundational training for people interested in becoming associates with EBA, expanding their consultation work in within judicatories, or applying these key tools for systemic change to their own congregational turnaround.

Level 1 trains participants in the use of the vision discernment tool from Moving Off the Map, that builds clarity and consensus about congregational core values, bedrock beliefs, motivating vision, and key strategic mission.

Level 2 trains participants in the use of the trilogy Kicking Habits (Millennium Upgrade Version), Coming Clean (Study Guide), and Facing Reality (Congregational Mission Assessment). The tool assesses congregational life and mission in 11 foundational, functional, and formal categories for a comprehensive review of strengths, weaknesses, hidden addictions, and mission opportunities.

Who Should Come?
  • Leaders seeking to turn around, transition, or grow their congregational or judicatory mission;
  • Leaders planting new churches and intentional about initiating healthy core processes;
  • Leaders anticipating the future development of servant empowering organizational models;
  • Leaders in the midst of the chaos of change and seeking the next steps to thrive.
