The Fine Art of Coaching
Small Group Leaders

By
Bill Tenny-Brittian

Coaching appears to be the "next" big thing when it comes to church leadership. It seems almost everyone either (1) wants to be a coach, or (2) wants to be coached. The fact is, everyone needs a coach, but a great teacher doesn't necessarily makes a good coach. Indeed, being a great practitioner of a skill doesn't automatically mean they're going to be a good coach. Far from it. A good coach can be difficult to find, even in a large pool of talented leaders. Coaching is both a skill and an art. It takes discernment, observation, and a knack at asking the right question at the right moment. -read more-

Multiplying Leaders and Small Groups

May 8 - 10, 2007
Register Here!

One of the regular concerns we hear about at EBA is the need for the local church to raise up effective leaders, especially when it comes to small group leaders. Bulletin ads for volunteers, mass recruitment during special services, and the like regularly leave the church with a mixed bag of the willing, but many who ultimately burn out and/or are ineffective.

Multiplying successful small group leaders takes a combination of targeted recruiting, practical training, and regular ongoing coaching. This summit breaks down these three processes and gives you the tools to launch a multiplying small group network that replicates leaders.

Sessions include:

  • Exploring the Effective Small Group
  • Identifying Leaders
  • Apprenticeship
Recruiting (no, this isn't out of order_find out why during this session)
  • Mentoring
  • Birthing New Small Groups
  • Coaching

Who Should Come?

  1. Leaders considering a small group launch
  2. Leaders considering a small group re-launch
  3. Leaders dissatisfied with the level of small group participation in their church
  4. Leaders exploring effective discipleship and spiritual transformation modalities

You will be mentored and coached by Bill Tenny-Brittian who draws from nearly twenty years of experience in church planting, leader development and multiplication, and multiplying small groups. The event will include time for personal coaching and mentoring, walks on the beach, late-night chats over dinner, and times for planning and reflection.
