Leadership Pipeline 1

For the week of January 30, 2006

Leadership Pipeline 1

By: John Laster

What does your pool of emerging leaders look like? Do you ever experience frustration around the absence of men and women who are willing and capable of providing leadership in the various facets of congregational life? If new leaders are not bubbling to the surface, it is time to examine the processes and contexts we are creating to incubate emerging leaders. These development processes can be formal, informal and non-formal. The easiest way to begin developing a pool of leaders is to prayerfully surface three or four individuals in whom you can both see glimpses of potential and begin investing intentional time with each week. For the first several weeks, get to know them and something of the burdens and hopes that God has placed on their hearts. Pray with them weekly and for them daily.
