Telling the story in a new light.
Midnight Oil Productions sells images and animations for contemporary worship, and leaders Len Wilson and Jason Moore coach and train congregational leaders in technology and contemporary mission.

Midnight Oil Productions is a ministry to the church in digital culture. Co-founders Jason Moore and Len Wilson are passionate about worship that authentically connects people to God using today's digital language of film, television, computer technology, pop art, music, and drama. Jason and Len have spoken to over 10,000 church leaders in the past 5 years on harnessing digital media for ministry.

Len Wilson:
Len is a nationally recognized pioneer in communicating the Gospel to digital culture. His singular passion is a high quality, theologically grounded, experiential aesthetic for worship and media in church life that goes far beyond an "audio-visual," or lyrics-centered, approach to meet people at a soul level.

From 1995-2000 Len served as media minister of Ginghamsburg Church. During this time, Len was part of a worship planning team whose efforts tripled attendance to 3000 people a weekend. By combining theory and practice in a weekly "living lab," Len created an effective model for media ministry, as well as the empowerment of a team of highly committed volunteers trained on technical systems he oversaw. Len holds a M.A. in Religious Communication, United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH 1995; a B.A. in Communication, McMurry University, Abilene, TX 1992 (summa cum laude); and did Master's course study at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA 1992-1993. Len and his musician wife Shar are the proud parents of their daughter, Kaylyn.

Jason Moore:
An award winning digital artist, Jason continues to establish new styles for visual imagery in worship that he hopes will help the church reach the culture we live in. Known for his pioneering visual style, he has devoted the last five years to developing professional, highly emotive graphics, animation and video that are being emulated in churches throughout the country. As animator/illustrator and member of the worship design team at Ginghamsburg Church from 1997-2000, Jason brought a fresh approach to the use of digital media that raised the bar for artistic standards in worship.

Believing in the power of the story, Jason likes to pepper his projects and teaching with humor. His passions include designing worship, production, acting and teaching. Jason graduated from the School of Advertising Art. He has been awarded Hermes, UMAC, and Telly Awards for his innovations in animation, design and illustration.

Background:
Their latest book is Digital Storytellers: The Art of Communicating the Gospel in Worship (Abingdon Press, 2002). Bill Easum has said about Digital Storytellers,

"Len and Jason will take you beyond simply flashing words on a screen, or using story to communicate the truth, or even using a screen at all. They will take you beyond these pieces of technology to the 'interface' of worship and technology so that mechanics of the production of worship disappear and, like reading a book, we reach the point where we no longer see the technology for it has become a part of our life."

Len is the best selling author of The Wired Church: Making Media Ministry (Abingdon Press, 1999), which church growth guru Lyle Schaller called "the most important book of the next three years" on its publication in 1999. Jason was the lead designer for the CD-ROM of The Wired Church. In addition he has completed projects for such organizations as The Fuller Institute, Easum Bandy and Associates and Abingdon Press. Also, they have designed worship alongside such church leaders as Tony Campolo and Leonard Sweet.

In addition, Len and Jason have authored and/or been featured in several articles for publications including Next Wave, Rev., Technologies for Worship, Wired, Worship Matters, Your Church, Church and Worship Technology, and various newspapers around North America. Jason and Len's digital productions from Ginghamsburg and Lumicon have received several Telly Awards for excellence in video production.

In 2000, Jason and Len co-founded Lumicon Digital Productions, a non-profit arm of UMR Communications whose purpose is to be a comprehensive teaching center for assisting churches in the ministry of digital culture. After 2 years of casting vision and producing high quality worship resources for churches through Lumicon, Len and his ministry partner Jason Moore have once again followed God's call to establish a new ministry called Midnight Oil Productions. The goal of Midnight Oil is to further the vision of worship for the digital age through ideas, resources and seminars that work for local churches.
